The third major launching this September was the 15m Kingfishercat “Double Hooked”. Powered by 450hp Caterpillar diesels the planing cat achieved 32 knots during initial trials in Tauranga. As a dedicated gamefisher destined for American Samoa, “Double Hooked” features a massive cockpit, Cyril Jordon gamechair, aft bridge controls, air conditioning, and Garmin electronics.

It’s been 30 years since Whitianga had a new ferry to serve the eastern shores across the harbour. This new 12m mono hulled  alloy craft, built by Alloy Cats, greatly increases capacity to meet growing demand. She’s powered by an 85hp John Deere diesel and offers greater space and comfort.

The Maketu Coastguard unit has taken delivery of their new Robson 11m vessel. Alloy Cats Ltd received a basic hull and cabin shell to modify and completed the fit out, painting and engine installations.
