When Sam picked up his brand new Kingfisher 670 Hardtop Powercat last week, he became the first retail customer to take delivery of our all new 670 — a model we’ve been quietly developing for some time and officially revealed at the Hutchwilco Boat Show earlier this year.
It was worth the wait.
Sam’s Build
Sam’s 670 is set up as a serious offshore fishing machine — Honda powered with twin 135hp engines, a Humminbird electronics package, and a Minn Kota electric motor. The kind of rig you build when you know exactly what you want on the water.
His custom spec includes:
- Travel Buddy Pie Oven — available in our online shop
- Dometic fridge drawer to starboard with folding seat
- Chilly bin seat to port
- Drop down bunks for overnight missions
- Outriggers for serious offshore work
- Live bait tank with walk-through access
It’s a boat built for long range fishing trips — comfortable enough for an overnight, capable enough to go wide.
What’s New on the 670
The all new 670 isn’t just a refresh — it’s a ground-up rethink of everything we’ve learned from building and selling 670s over the years.
The most noticeable change is the curved glass screen and reshaped cabin top — cleaner lines, better proportions, and a more modern look that matches the capability underneath.
The hulls have been deepened by 40mm to increase buoyancy and raise the deck height above the waterline — a meaningful improvement for anyone who’s ever taken spray over the bow in a chop.
The forward tunnel height has been increased to reduce wave impact and improve performance in rough conditions — less sneezing, more confidence at speed.
Inside, the dash has been reconfigured with a larger starboard side and a small shelf to port — practical detail that makes a difference on a long day’s fishing. The seating boxes now accommodate a fridge drawer, upright fridge, or drawer unit depending on how you want to set up your cockpit. Sam went fridge drawer to starboard, chilly bin to port — the perfect setup for a serious fishing trip.
The boarding platform and ladder have been completely redesigned — a plate-style ladder that lifts and swings out, with the hinge point lowered to drop the bottom step by 200mm. Anyone who’s ever tried to climb back into a boat after a dive will appreciate that.
And importantly — the new 670 is built to EU and US compliance standards, opening up new markets and giving buyers everywhere additional confidence in what they’re getting.
The Result
Sam’s 670 is everything the new model promised — a more capable, more refined, more fishable boat than the one it replaces. And with 2,500 views on his delivery video in the first 14 hours, it’s fair to say people are paying attention.
